About Me

I'm Joel and I've been buying, collecting and rehoming records for as long as I can remember.

A few years ago I set up an online record store, Brighter Day Vinyl, a record shop with a difference.

I love that every record has a story, and I'm passionate about giving your cherished collections a new chapter in that journey.

So, if you are looking to turn your unwanted vinyl collection into cash, you've come to the right place!

With years of experience buying and selling record collections in London and Essex, I'd love to view your collections.

Why Sell Your Records To Me?

Firstly, I'm a passionate record collector myself.

I've literally thousands of records in my collection, from heavy metal to jazz.

I love music, especially if it's on vinyl!

Because I'm so passionate about records, I understand the emotional value placed on a collection, and I will always be honest about whether your records are for me or not.

Let's Talk Records

If you're thinking about parting with your collection, I'd love to have a chat about what you have, and, if possible, view them to give you an honest appraisal of what you have.

Why do people sell their records?

Why do people choose to sell their records to me?

At I Buy Records, I've had the privilege of welcoming countless individuals who, for various reasons, have decided to part ways with their - or loved one's - cherished vinyl record collections. As a passionate collector myself, I understand the significance of this decision and the factors that drive it. Here are some common reasons why people choose to sell their record collections to me:

1. Space Constraints

As a vinyl collector, I know that records can quickly take up a considerable amount of space. Many individuals find themselves facing limited storage options as their collections grow over the years. When space becomes a premium, selling a portion or even the entire collection can be a practical choice to reclaim living areas.

2. Changing Musical Tastes

Musical preferences evolve with time. What was once a beloved genre or artist might no longer align with one's current taste. When this happens, collectors often decide to sell records from genres they no longer resonate with to fund new additions that better reflect their current musical interests.

3. Financial Goals

Life is filled with various financial needs and goals. Some collectors choose to part with their records to generate extra income for important milestones such as buying a home, funding education, or covering unexpected expenses. Selling vinyl collections can provide a valuable source of funds without the hassle of other sales methods.

4. Upgrading Their Collection

Vinyl aficionados are constantly on the lookout for upgrades and rare finds. When an opportunity arises to acquire a more pristine or valuable copy of a beloved album, collectors may decide to sell their current version to fund the upgrade. This cycle of buying, enjoying, and occasionally selling is part of the joy of vinyl collecting.

5. Decluttering and Simplifying

Minimalism and decluttering have become popular lifestyle choices. Many individuals are opting for a simpler, more streamlined living environment. Selling a record collection that has grown unwieldy can be a meaningful step toward decluttering and simplifying one's life.

6. Passing the Torch

Some collectors decide to pass their cherished vinyl collections on to a new generation or fellow enthusiasts. By selling their records, they ensure that the music they've loved is appreciated and enjoyed by others who share their passion for vinyl.

7. Monetary Valuation

Vinyl records can hold significant monetary value, especially when they are rare, collectible, or in excellent condition. Selling a collection can be a strategic financial decision to capitalise on the investment value of certain records.

8. Changing Lifestyles

Life changes, such as relocating, downsizing, or transitioning to a digital music library, can prompt collectors to make the difficult choice of selling their vinyl. Adapting to new circumstances often involves letting go of physical possessions, including record collections.

At I Buy Records, I recognise that selling a record collection is a deeply personal decision. I'm here to make the process as seamless and rewarding as possible. I value the music you've cherished, and am committed to offering good cash prices for your vinyl treasures. Whether you're looking to create space, fund new musical adventures, or simply find a new home for your beloved records, we're here to assist you on your journey. Your music memories will continue to resonate with collectors who share your passion.

Some feedback from people I've bought record collections from...

“I helped my dad sell his records to Joel. It was a thoroughly excellent experience from start to finish. Joel was easy to get hold of and friendly by email and phone. He came to our home to view the collection (just over 500 items) and displayed an extraordinary depth of knowledge while going through the records with care and enthusiasm. Joel was very open about the condition of the vinyl and transparent with the rationale for his offer, which was the best price of the three we obtained for the collection.” – Noah Tate

“I had the pleasure of selling some of my vinyl collection to Joel - what a fantastic experience! Joel was so helpful and knowledgeable, sorting through my collection. He was patient and thorough, and I’m delighted my records are now in the best place to be enjoyed again in new homes. He was fair with his pricing and the attention he took was just wonderful. I cannot recommend Joel highly enough and will not hesitate to use his services again.” – Guy Flower

“Just sold our vast collection of LPs to Joel. Looked at a few sites who bought vinyl before finding this little gem! The others just weren’t interested, offered silly money or didn’t even reply! From first contacting Joel he always replied straight away and has been honest and upfront about what they were worth! I don’t believe I could have got a better deal anywhere else. Give Brighter Day Records a look if you’re selling your vinyl...you won’t be disappointed.” – Sue Ellis
